This was announced by the administration of the South Kuril urban district with reference to the deputy director of the state reserve "Kuril" Irina Nevedomskaya.

She explained that, probably, during the storms, there was a sharp decrease in the temperature of the water in the area where there were massive concentrations of wasashi.

“The fish could experience thermal shock, which subsequently caused death,” said Nevedomskaya.
