The governments of Japan and the United States have signed an agreement to expedite cooperation in outer space.

Prime Minister Kishida, who attended the signing ceremony, said, "I strongly hope that the fields of cooperation under the strong Japan-U.S. alliance will further expand."

The "Framework Agreement on Japan-US Space Cooperation" was signed between Foreign Minister Hayashi and US Secretary of State Brinken at the headquarters of NASA in Washington, USA.



The agreement predetermines related rules, such as the handling of space-related intellectual property and the response to accidents in outer space.



Regarding activities and development in outer space, Japan is strengthening cooperation between Japan and the United States, such as participating in the "Artemis Project," which aims to send astronauts to the surface of the moon and explore it, led by the United States.

Prime Minister Kishida, who witnessed the signing, said, "Japan-U.S. space cooperation has entered a new era with the 'Artemis Project.' I strongly hope that the areas of cooperation in the alliance will further expand."
