The attack against Dnipro was Saturday's bloodiest so far.

In addition to the five killed, at least 27 civilians were injured, writes the governor of Dnipropetrovsk Valentyn Reznitchenko.

Several of the victims are children, and there is a risk that people are still buried under the rubble of the demolished multi-storey building, which also caught fire.

The attacks began already in the morning, when a series of explosions shook the capital, Kyiv.

The air traffic alert, which normally warns 10-60 minutes before the missiles arrive, this time did not start sounding until the explosions were a fact.

Something that suggests that the attack was carried out with some type of high-speed robots that are more difficult to detect.

Protection in the subway

One of the Kyiv residents who sought protection was Alyona Sirenko with her six-year-old daughter Olga:

- This morning there were no sirens.

I heard five or six explosions.

We heard them and stayed home but then we realized we needed to seek shelter.

She took a piece of cake and some water down to the metro station Obolon, just north of central Kyiv.

- My daughter is scared, so am I.

Really.

It's terrible, I have no words.

It is terrible for us, for Ukraine.

I hate Russia, Russian people, and what they do to us.

Saturday's attacks on the capital were the first since the New Year.

According to Kyiv, at least 28 residential buildings were hit, but there are no reports of any injuries.

Similar attacks were also directed at Kharkiv in the north, where a power station was destroyed.

Strategic bombers

Information also came that 17 planes of the strategic bomber flight took off from their bases in Russia and were put on strike alert.

Possibly it was these who were behind the further wave of bot attacks that came at 3pm local time.

This time targeting even more targets across pretty much all of Ukraine.

Among other things, the regions of Lviv, Odessa and Zaporizhzhya.

Important infrastructure and factory buildings have been destroyed, which can lead to acute power outages.

In Nikopol, local authorities state that the city was shelled with artillery from Russian positions on the opposite side of the Dnieper River.

Kyiv was also hit by another wave of attacks, but according to Mayor Vitaly Klitschko, Ukraine's air defense this time managed to shoot down most of the incoming missiles.
