Palestinian sources confirmed that 3 Palestinians were shot dead by Israeli forces yesterday, Thursday, following clashes that occurred during raids in the occupied West Bank, and United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed his concern about Israel's expansion in building settlements and demolishing homes.

The Israeli occupation forces killed two Palestinian youths as they stormed the town of Qabatiya in Jenin, as the storming led to clashes.

The Israeli army said its forces there had arrested a suspect "for his involvement in terrorist activity and planning attacks."

He added that the soldiers fired after they came under fire, and that "violent riots" broke out.

And in Qalandia camp in Jerusalem, the Israeli occupation forces killed a third Palestinian during their storming of the camp.

Al-Jazeera correspondent said that 10 Palestinians were wounded during an infiltration operation by the occupation soldiers in the Old City of Nablus.

The Israeli army said that it carried out operations in the West Bank, which included arrests and confiscation of weapons, adding that its forces were attacked during an operation in Qalandiya by local residents and responded with means of dispersing gatherings and with gunfire.

Commenting on these events, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said - in a speech to a UN Security Council meeting on the rule of law - that 2022 was a deadly year for both Palestinians and Israelis, and he condemned all "unlawful killings and acts of extremists."

"At the same time, Israel's expansion of settlements, as well as house demolitions and expulsions, are factors that reinforce anger and despair (...) I am also very concerned about the unilateral initiatives that we have seen in recent days," Guterres added.

The Secretary-General of the United Nations also expressed his grave concern about the Israeli Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir, storming the Al-Aqsa courtyards.
