Chinanews.com, January 13 (Xinhua) According to Kyodo News, the Japanese government held a cabinet meeting related to the nuclear sewage disposal of the Tokyo Electric Power Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant at the prime minister's residence on the 13th.

The meeting confirmed that after the completion of equipment construction and the completion inspection of the Atomic Energy Regulatory Commission, it is expected that nuclear sewage will be discharged into the sea "around this spring to summer".

According to reports, the meeting also revised the government's action plan, stating that a new 50 billion yen fund will be established to provide support to fishers across the country affected by sea discharge.

In April 2021, the Japanese government formally decided to filter and dilute the Fukushima nuclear sewage and discharge it into the sea. However, this decision was widely questioned and opposed by the international community, and it also aroused strong concerns in Japan.
