The fighting around the town of Bachmut and areas near it in eastern Ukraine has been going on since September.
Now new drone images show the devastation that hit the nearby, but smaller, town of Soledar.
A lone armored car is seen patrolling war-torn streets while soldiers search for wounded and survivors in destroyed houses.
Big losses
Earlier this week, the Russian-led Wagner group claimed that it has now taken military control of Soledar, which is of strategic importance in a further attack on Bachmut.
However, the Ukrainian military refutes the claim and claims in turn that they are resisting in both Soledar and Bachmut.
Both sides say they have suffered heavy losses during the months-long fighting in the area, which has been described as a "meat grinder".
