The campaign where an Erdogan doll was hung outside Stockholm's city hall has provoked strong reactions in Turkey.

Among other things, a visit with Sweden's Speaker and his Finnish counterpart has been canceled by Turkey.

Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) commented on the incident at a press conference in Kiruna.

- I understand Turkey's anger - we would have shown exactly the same anger if it had happened in another country, directed at a leading Swedish politician.

He also called the action "disgusting".

Earlier on Friday, Turkey stressed that condemnations from Swedish representatives "are not enough".

Freedom of expression expert: "Should not comment"

The government has shown a "fabulously bendable back" towards Turkey, says freedom of expression expert Nils Funcke.

He is strongly critical of the way the government has spoken about the action.

- It's overtones so it says lovely.

A minister, especially a prime minister, should shut up and not comment on individual opinions.

You may think it's bizarre and tasteful, but it's still something that fits within the wide freedom of expression we have.

- Kristersson and Billström send an incredibly strong signal to individuals and established media to hold back in the interest of the nation.

Instead, the government should have acted as in the case of extraditions, Funcke believes - and emphasized that Swedish legislation and the legal order apply.
