The goal is for the solar energy company to decide on a location during the first quarter and begin production shortly thereafter.
- Initially, we will be 40 people, but when the factory is fully developed, we aim to have 250 employees, says Sven Lindström, CEO.
In addition to Uppsala, there are Katrineholm, Arboga and Järfälla, where the current factory is located, which may be relevant for the factory.
The premises being considered in Uppsala are located in Boländerna, near IKEA.
Strengthened research collaborations
Uppsala municipality sees many advantages with a solar cell factory in the city, which is already strong in life science.
- The fact that we are attractive for this type of business is very exciting and hopefully research collaborations in the energy field would be strengthened, says Per Lundeqvist, unit manager for business and destination Uppsala municipality.
