The main unions have announced the holding of a first day of strike and mobilization on Thursday, January 19, after the presentation of the pension reform.

One week before this date, trade union organizations from different sectors have already announced that they will take part in this national movement.

"Let's find ways of action that do not penalize our fellow citizens," said Elisabeth Borne Thursday morning, calling for "the responsibility of trade union organizations" opposed to pension reform.

Shortly after the presentation of the project, the eight most important unions announced a strike and a mobilization everywhere in France next Thursday, January 19th.

And one week before this first meeting, many sectors have already called for a strike.

This is the case, for example, of trades affected by the end of special regimes such as electricians.

A notice was filed by the National Federation of Mines and Energy CGT.

This is also the case at the RATP, where four unions are calling to join the movement.

New blockages in refineries?

In the refineries, the organizations also reject the pension reform, and the blockages could again take place a few months after the difficulties of September-October 2022. At the microphone of Europe 1, the secretary general oil at the CGT, Emmanuel Lépine, calls for a massive movement.

"The stronger the mobilization from January 19, the shorter the need to demonstrate that all workers in France do not want two more years to work," he argues.

“We call on all workers in economic sectors, both public and private, to mobilize on January 19,” continues the trade unionist.

On Wednesday, the public service unions announced that they will join the mobilization.

Thursday, it was the railway workers who met, and the four main unions also called for a strike on the 19th, even if there is no longer a special regime for entrants since 2020. The latter are mobilized against the reform of the retreats.
