Biden confirms his "full cooperation" with the judiciary in the file of confidential documents
US President Joe Biden, Thursday, confirmed his ′′ full cooperation ′′ with the Department of Justice after secret documents were found in his private home in Wilmington, Delaware.
"I take the classified files issue very seriously," Biden told reporters. "We are cooperating fully with the Department of Justice."
On the other hand, Republican US House Speaker Kevin McCarthy urged Congress, Thursday, to investigate Biden.
"Congress should investigate this matter," McCarthy said, referring to the Justice Department's investigation into former President Donald Trump for keeping more than 100 classified documents at his home in Palm Beach, Florida.
The Democratic president's administration has so far confirmed finding a "small number of classified documents" in a "locked safe" at the Ben Biden Center, a think tank linked to the University of Pennsylvania where Biden previously had an office.
The documents date back to the period when Biden was Vice President under Barack Obama (2009-2017).
However, his aides found "at least an additional batch" of documents, NBC News reported Wednesday, and other media outlets followed suit.
And the White House announced Tuesday that the president's lawyers found these documents in November while emptying Biden's office and handed them over to the archives responsible for preserving this type of official document.
On August 8, the FBI raided Mar-a-Lago, Donald Trump's residence in Florida, and seized boxes containing thousands of classified documents that the former Republican president did not return when he left the White House despite repeated requests in this regard.
Some of these documents are classified under defense secrets.
According to press reports, these secret documents contain sensitive information, especially about China and Iran, in addition to nuclear secrets.
