"

I asked my colleague who defends Aboubacar Diakité with me to asphyxiate him, but not to kill him, so that I can finish

him off myself ", launched Maître Paul Yomba Kourouma, the one of Toumba's lawyers a few weeks ago.

He has not yet spoken this morning, but the tone quickly rose in the courtroom.

His colleague, Maître Lanciné Sylla, still has the floor.

The announced strategy is well in place.

The lawyer is offensive, bombarding the former head of the junta with questions.

The public did not wait long before witnessing a new fit of anger

from Moussa Dadis Camara

.

Maître Lanciné Sylla evokes the flattering remarks that the latter made during previous hearings with regard to the politician Cellou Dalein Diallo.

“

Mr. Cellou Dalein, do you know that he is your opponent here

?

 asks the lawyer.

The defendant refuses to answer… The presiding judge repeats the question and the lawyer continues: “

Do you know that he was personally the victim of the unfortunate events of September 28

?

 “The former putschist accuses:”

It was your client who went to the stadium

!

Before he left for the stadium, there

were no shots there!

It was your client Toumba who perpetrated this massacre

!

 »

Hearing quickly adjourned

After barely an hour of questioning, the presiding judge suspended the hearing.

No explanation was given for this interruption.

On the way back, 10 minutes later, Moussa Dadis Camara starts repeating the same sentence like a mantra: “

I don't have an answer to this question, Counsel.

 »

Only peaceful moments during these exchanges, when the former putschist becomes mute.

When he speaks, it is to cross swords with the lawyer, a face-to-face encounter that crumbles under the effect of loud voices and ends in hubbub.
