The first American lady is admitted to the hospital to remove a skin swelling

On Wednesday, US First Lady Jill Biden went from the White House to a military hospital to undergo minor surgery to remove skin swelling.

Jill, accompanied by her husband, President Joe Biden, left on the "Marine One" helicopter to Walter Reed National Medical Center in the suburbs of Washington.

The White House confirmed that she would undergo "surgery...in an outpatient setting."

The operation is performed under local anesthesia and is considered effective in eliminating skin cancer formations if performed early.

And Vanessa Valdivia, a spokeswoman for the US President's wife, previously said, quoting presidential physician Kevin O'Connor that, "During a routine examination for skin cancer, a small swelling was discovered above the first lady's eye. As a precaution, doctors recommended that it be removed."

And Jill Biden, 71, is the oldest first lady in the history of the United States, just as her husband, Joe Biden, 80, is the oldest master of the White House in American history.
