Janne Tervonen runs the Thai restaurant Thai san sai in the middle of Pajala together with his wife Rungnapa Rabpadcha.

They have no plans to shut down, but circumstances are forcing them to dramatically reorganize their operations.

Your own salary can become a saving measure

There are several large expenditure items that have increased, but the final straw was when Janne Tervonen had an investigation into how much electricity costs will rise.

- I asked Vattenfall to check and there was an increase of SEK 165,000 in one year, he says.

When the restaurant closes the service and switches to takeaway, he saves above all on electricity consumption for dishwashers, stoves, deep fryers, refrigerators and freezers.

Possibly his own salary could be the next saving measure – Janne Tervonen will look for a job in the mine.

Awaiting notification

Janne Tervonen now hopes that the government's promised electricity price support for northern Sweden will also be able to include companies.

When Energy and Industry Minister Ebba Busch (KD) presented the new support on Monday, only support for households in northern Sweden was mentioned.

A time for the payments was also not specified more closely than that it would take place in the spring.

Perhaps a clearer message can come on Wednesday when Ebba Busch visits Luleå and Jokkmokk.
