After the talks, the two leaders are expected to sign the "Japan-UK Facilitation Agreement", which stipulates measures such as when the Self-Defense Forces and British forces conduct joint exercises.

As the chair country of the G7, Prime Minister Kishida, who is visiting member countries in Europe and the United States ahead of the "Hiroshima Summit" to be held in May this year, is visiting London, England, the third destination. , I am attending a summit meeting with Prime Minister Sunak from around 11:00 pm on the 11th Japan time.



At the outset, Prime Minister Kishida said, "Japan and the UK, as special strategic partners, have a responsibility to work together to tackle the challenges of the international community. He also expressed his views on bilateral relations, including the progress of security cooperation. Japan will hold the G7 presidency this year and will host the Hiroshima Summit, and I would like to have a strategic discussion with that in mind."



At the meeting, Prime Minister Kishida plans to confirm the solidarity for the success of the summit as the world faces the situation in Ukraine and food and energy issues.



In addition, he explained that in order to protect the free and open international order, he is working to drastically strengthen defense capabilities, such as by deciding on new security-related documents. It seems that we will agree by promoting it.



After the meeting, the two leaders are expected to sign the "Japan-UK Facilitation Agreement", which pre-determines how to handle joint exercises between the Self-Defense Forces and the British Armed Forces.
