Postponement of the election session of the President of the Republic of Lebanon to mourn the death of Husseini

The Lebanese parliament is unable to choose a president so far.

Today, Wednesday, the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, Nabih Berri, announced the postponement of the session for electing the President of the Republic until the next Thursday, to mourn the death of former Parliament Speaker Hussein Al-Husseini.

Berri said, in a press statement today, that "in loss of the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hussein Al-Husseini, the parliament session scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, was postponed to Thursday, January 19, in order to elect a president for the republic."

Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati issued a memorandum declaring three days of official mourning for Al-Husseini's death.
