NBC, citing an anonymous source, said all flights in the U.S. were grounded after the glitch.

"Due to the 'failure' of the Air Task Notification System, the entire U.S. air system is affected," the FAA wrote in a notice on its website.

"Technicians are currently working to restore the system."

It is reported that the air task notification system mainly provides key safety operation information notifications to employees involved in flight operations.

According to CNN, United Airlines said it has temporarily postponed all domestic flights.

According to data from the US flight tracking website Flightaware, as of around 6:45 a.m. EST on the 11th, a total of about 1,200 international flights within the United States and to and from the United States have been delayed and about 93 flights have been cancelled.

The system has not yet been restored and flight disruptions continue.
