An 8-month-old baby died on Wednesday afternoon in a fire in an apartment in Beauzelle, near Toulouse.

Firefighters were called around 3 p.m.

On the spot, they could only note the death of the infant and took charge of his mother, transported "in absolute urgency", to the Toulouse University Hospital.

The violent fire, "under control" at the end of the afternoon, required the deployment of a dozen devices and 48 firefighters.

Marc Zarrouati, the chief of staff of the prefect of Haute-Garonne, and Sébastien Vergé, the director of the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service, went to the scene of this terrible tragedy, the cause of which is not known to this stage.
