A small porpoise was rescued this Sunday after being stranded on a beach in Port-en-Bessin (Calvados).

The cetacean was able to return to sea after the intervention of the National Society of Sea Rescuers (SNSM), reports France 3 Normandy.

The animal, stuck on the sand, was exhausted trying to get back to the water.

Walkers saw him and immediately intervened to help him, but their attempt was complicated by the mud in which they were stuck.

The animal saved after 15 minutes

The gendarmerie therefore alerted the SNSM, which sent four volunteers on the spot around 6 p.m., specifies BFMTV.

The operation was complicated because it was not necessary to scare the porpoise too much, an animal "known to be cardiac" according to the rescuers.

Finally, after about fifteen minutes, the little porpoise was able to return to the sea and moved away from the beach.

On Facebook, the SNSM wanted to thank the four volunteers who intervened.
