Leopard tanks are built in Germany and it is therefore up to the German government to give the green light to transfer these weapons to Ukraine.

But since the beginning of the war, Germany has always been reluctant to send heavy weapons.

She wants to avoid being directly involved in the conflict and above all, Olaf Scholz refuses to go it alone.

But this time, the German chancellor is under pressure.

Within the coalition of the German government, more and more voices support the sending of Leopard tanks to Ukraine.

Especially since France and the United States decided to send equipment to Ukraine at the start of 2023. Germany would not go it alone.

Poland tries to exert pressure.

The Polish government hopes to obtain authorization quickly enough to send some or all of the 240 Leopard tanks.

And Warsaw has already planned the sequel.

Last year, Poland bought tanks from the United States and South Korea which will replace the Leopard tanks which should go to Ukraine if Germany authorizes the transfer.
