During a press conference at the National People and Defense Conference on Tuesday, Minister of Justice Gunnar Strömmer (M) announced that a new national strategy to combat organized crime, corresponding to the national strategies that exist against terrorism and against violent extremism, must be developed.

More resources are to be given to the National Forensic Centre, NFC, and the Police Authority is tasked with increasing the operational capacity of the police.

"Completely different message before the election"

But the measures against gang crime are late.

That is the opinion of Social Democrats party leader Magdalena Andersson.

- Before the election, Ulf Kristersson (M) tried to give the impression that they had a strategy.

Now, several months after he took office, we find out that people are now to be appointed to develop a strategy.

It is something completely different from the message before the election, says Magdalena Andersson (S).

According to Magdalena Andersson, the government must invest more in preventive work.

- You have to invest in measures to prevent young people from getting involved in crime, i.e. stop new recruitment.

The government is far too weak there.
