“We see, when it comes to the West’s approach to Russia, any lie is acceptable, any distortion of the truth is acceptable, any violation of trust is acceptable, as if it were in the order of things,” RIA Novosti quoted Ritter as saying at an event organized by the Schiller Institute.

He accused former German chancellor Angela Merkel of lying, as well as the United States, France and the entire collective West.

According to him, the West wants Russia to deal with liars, but from the Russian point of view, this is an unrealistic proposal.

On December 7, former German Chancellor Angela Merkel called the Minsk agreements an attempt to give Ukraine time to “become stronger.”

She noted that today's Ukraine militarily is "not what it was in 2014-2015."

Later, ex-French President Francois Hollande said that the Minsk agreements allowed the Ukrainian army to become stronger and "stopped Russia's offensive for a while."
