On Monday, it was announced that the Swedish Agency for Community Protection and Preparedness, MSB, will be tasked with preparing the activation of the civil duty.

Now the government also announces that a so-called business council is to be introduced.

The aim is to deepen the cooperation between business and the government regarding total defence.

- There is a need to secure Sweden's security of supply.

Business, which in everyday life is responsible for and is a very natural part of supply flows, will have a very clear task in supply preparedness in crisis and war and forms part of the total defense, says Minister for Civil Defense Carl-Oskar Bohlin (M) at the defense conference Folk and Defense in Sälen.

"The first victim of the pandemic"

The work on drawing up the guidelines for the new business council has been going on during the autumn and on Thursday the decision will be hammered out, according to Bohlin.

A similar proposal was previously drawn up by the previous government, but in the new business council, the cooperation between the business community and the government will be even more in-depth and more government councilors will be included.

A national coordination for supply preparedness is also planned to be introduced.

- In terms of supply, Sweden can easily be cut off.

The just-in-time society was one of the first victims of the pandemic.

We need to rethink and act together around stocking, supply chains and production restructuring, says Carl-Oskar Bohlin.
