A violent fire broke out early Friday morning in a pound located in Groslay (Val-d'Oise).

A total of 46 vehicles that were on the site were destroyed by the flames, reports La Gazette du Val-d'Oise.

The alert was given around 5 a.m.

For a reason still unknown, a fire started in the pound and quickly reached the open car park, on which vehicles seized during legal proceedings were notably parked.

Significant resources were mobilized to bring the fire under control: nine fire engines, five fire hoses and around forty firefighters.

Local police secured the area and put diversions in place on the surrounding roads.

After three hours of intervention, the flames were contained.

An investigation was opened and entrusted to the departmental security of Val-d'Oise to identify the cause of the fire.
