The recall applies to Coop Egg Free-range 12-pack, Coop Egg Free-range 24-pack and Xtra Egg Free-range 15-pack with different best-before dates.

The goods can pose a health hazard, but when heated to 70 degrees, the salmonella bacteria dies.

Customers who bought any of the products in question are asked to return them to Coop's stores and get their money back.

Second recall in a short time

The recall is the second in a short time.

Last week, the company recalled several packages of eggs after it was discovered that the eggs may contain salmonella.

After the alarm, industry colleague Axfood also recalled eggs for the same reason.

The infection was localized to a farm outside Mönsterås in Småland where the eggs were laid, and the Swedish Food Agency estimated that 165,000 healthy animals may have to be euthanized.
