In a crowd attended by official, political, artistic, cultural and media figures from Lebanon, the "Sultan of Tarab" George Wassouf bid farewell to his son Wadih Wassouf, who died last Friday at the age of 39.

Wadih is the eldest son of George Wassouf from his first wife, Shalimar, with whom he was associated in Paris after her family refused his marriage to her, where he and Mrs. Shalimar appeared together to receive condolences for his son, while he was repeating, "Rah Wadih."

The news of the death came after the announcement that Wadih George Wassouf had been transferred to a hospital in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, following the gastric sleeve he had recently undergone.

Wassouf, on his official Facebook page, demanded that the participants in the funeral of his son Wadih not shoot during the funeral, and said during a video on his page that he did not want to hear any gunshots so that nothing dangerous would happen, "so that the wound would not be two wounds."

George Wassouf appeared in a state of great sadness at his son's funeral, which was held at St. Nikolaos Church in the Ashrafieh district of the Lebanese capital, Beirut, today, Sunday, where he was bid farewell to his song "Farewell Day", which accompanied the transfer of the casket, and several other songs from "Sultan Al Tarab" songs.

Wadih's brother, George Jr., said in his speech during the funeral ceremony that his brother's death broke all of their hearts, stressing that Wadih was always concerned that his father be comfortable, and that he lived his life for his father.

And George Wassouf had held the condolences yesterday evening, Saturday, and his friends from the artistic community, Walid Tawfiq, Najwa Karam, Marwan Khoury, Nancy Ajram, Wael Jassar, Ziad Burji, Haifa Wehbe and Assi Al-Hillani, attended.

Nishan added that the cause of death was very severe bleeding, as he was admitted to the hospital two weeks ago, on December 27, and underwent surgery on the same day, but complications occurred two days ago.

It is noteworthy that the body of Wadih George Wassouf is scheduled to move to Kafroun in the Syrian governorate of Tartous, to be buried in the family cemetery.
