SCMP: two dozen leading Chinese scientists-engineers have died after the lifting of anti-COVID measures

According to the newspaper, such statistics were presented by the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

According to the educational institution, 20 of its members died between December 15 and January 4.

The publication indicates that these figures exceed the annual figures, since the average annual level of the corresponding death rate is 16 people.

At the same time, SCMP, citing a doctor in Beijing, adds that academy members usually have privileged access to medical care, but at present, even for them there are no free beds for treatment.

Earlier it was reported that China is canceling a number of anti-COVID restrictions in force since 2020 from January 8, including mandatory centralized quarantine and PCR testing upon arrival from abroad.
