The survey was conducted in 28 provinces of Turkey by phone, RIA Novosti reports.

“Almost 29% of respondents were against this idea, the remaining 12% refrained from answering,” the report says.

Earlier, Recep Tayyip Erdogan admitted the possibility of meeting with Bashar al-Assad for the sake of peace in Syria.

Turkey also expressed hope for the continuation of trilateral negotiations with Syria and Russia.
