Xinhua News Agency, Zagreb, January 6 (Reporter Li Xuejun) Serbia's First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Dacic arrived in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, on January 6 and held talks with Croatian Prime Minister Plenković.

Dacic told the media after the talks that improving relations between Serbia and Croatia is the primary interest of the two countries.

Dacic said that although some issues in bilateral relations cannot be resolved quickly, both countries are aware of the need to improve relations.

He emphasized that the trip sends a strong message that dialogue is needed and the current relationship between the two countries needs to be redefined.

"We think differently on many issues, but we have to have a dialogue and reach an agreement."

Dacic congratulated Croatia on joining the Eurozone and the Schengen area on the 1st, and believed that the progress made by Croatia as a neighboring country of Serbia should be regarded as a common success in the region.

During the talks, Plenkovic also emphasized the importance of reconciliation between the two countries, saying that he would build a bridge of unity between the two countries and the two peoples.

According to Serbian media reports, entrusted by Serbian President Vucic, Dacic visited Croatia to seek to improve bilateral relations.

Vucic has previously stated that this year will seek to "thaw" relations with Croatia.

Croatia and Serbia originally belonged to the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.

In 1991, the Yugoslav Federation began to disintegrate, and Croatia declared independence in the same year.

Since then, the bilateral relationship between Croatia and Serbia has not developed smoothly, and it is still difficult to improve due to the many problems left over from the war.
