Iran executes two men convicted of killing a security officer during protests

On Saturday, Iran carried out two death sentences against two men accused of killing a security officer during the protests sparked by the death of the young Kurdish woman, Mahsa Amini, according to the "Mizan Online" website of the Iranian judiciary.

This brings the number of executions in connection with the recent protests in Iran to four, as two men were executed last December.

Iran has been witnessing protests since September 16 following the death of Amini, three days after she was arrested by the police for not adhering to the strict rules of dress in the Islamic Republic.

The website reported that the Court of First Instance sentenced the two men to death on December 4.

On January 3, the Iranian Supreme Court upheld the death sentences issued against the two men, accusing them of killing a security officer on November 3 in Karaj, west of Tehran.
