Chinanews.com, Guangzhou, January 6 (Reporter Cheng Jingwei) The second meeting of the 14th Guangzhou Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference opened on January 6.

Zheng Zhiwen, member of the Guangzhou Municipal People's Political Consultative Conference from Hong Kong and chief executive officer of Rosewood Hotel Group, suggested that Guangzhou can actively link up with relevant cities, unite with Hong Kong and Macau, and jointly create a dual axis of cycling in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

As of the end of 2021, more than 2,900 kilometers of green roads have been built in Guangdong Province, and it is expected to reach 7,800 kilometers by 2025.

The "2021 Guangzhou Transportation Development Annual Report" shows that in 2021, the proportion of green travel in the central urban area of Guangzhou will reach 78%.

In addition, cycling in Hong Kong and Macau is becoming increasingly popular. Taking Hong Kong as an example, the Hong Kong Cycling Festival is one of the largest cycling events in Hong Kong.

In Zheng Zhiwen's view, the above situations have laid a good foundation for the development of unified and standardized cycling activities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau all have cycling routes that are familiar to enthusiasts, but these routes have not yet connected the three places, and there is no unified standard. It is urgent to realize interconnection through scientific planning and construction.

Zheng Zhiwen suggested that Guangzhou can link up with relevant cities in Guangdong Province and Hong Kong and Macau to jointly create a dual axis of cycling in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

She said that the "dual axis" specifically refers to the "Western Line-Axis of Humanities" and "Eastern Line-Axis of Innovation".

Among them, the "Western Line-Axis of Humanities" line planning is: from Hong Kong and Macau to Zhuhai via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, take Guangdong Greenway Line 1 as the main axis, and then pass through Zhuhai, Zhongshan, Guangzhou, Foshan and Zhaoqing, etc. land.

Guangdong Greenway Line 1 is characterized by mountains and seas. Important scenic spots include Qixingyan Scenic Area in Zhaoqing, Yundonghai in Foshan, Jiaomen River in Nansha and Chimelong in Hengqin, Zhuhai.

According to reports, the biggest feature of this axis is that it is the first time to propose and realize the cycling function of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.

The route planning of the "Eastern Route - Axis of Innovation" is as follows: from Hong Kong to Shenzhen, then through Shenzhen and Dongguan to Zengcheng District and Conghua District of Guangzhou.

The route integrates natural landscapes, cultural landscapes, and leisure and vacation destinations, and overlaps with the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Macao Science and Technology Innovation Corridor to a certain extent.

Zheng Zhiwen believes that the construction of the dual axis of cycling in the Greater Bay Area has many advantages, including the creation of a new sports tourism model, the promotion of cultural and tourism integration, the promotion of positive interaction between cities in the Bay Area, and the enhancement of two-way understanding.

In order to better empower the creation of dual-axis cycling in the Greater Bay Area, Zheng Zhiwen also suggested that Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Macao cooperate to plan and hold large-scale events such as the International Cycling Festival and International Cycling Tournament; Guangzhou can also cooperate with Hong Kong and Macao cycling organizations to continuously launch cycling Axis Promotional Activities.
