A young firefighter received the civic engagement prize from the National Order of Merit on Wednesday.
In July 2021, the then 16-year-old teenager saved the life of one of his neighbors in Thônes (Haute-Savoie).

After hearing his father scream, the young man saw his neighbor lying on the ground.
The 54-year-old man was going into cardiac arrest in his garden.
Without thinking, the young firefighter checked the state of the victim who was unconscious.
He then called the Samu before starting cardiac massage.
Reflexes that allowed him to save the life of his neighbor.
"After a few minutes, I found a pulse and a breath," he says.
Even today, the fifties is very grateful for the reactivity of the teenager.
On Wednesday, he was at his side when he was presented with the prize for civic engagement of the National Order of Merit.
The prefecture indeed wanted to reward him for his great courage.
He was congratulated by all of his colleagues and relatives.
