An attack on a car dealership in the Riederwald district of Frankfurt could be linked to climate protests.

According to the police, unknown perpetrators damaged 14 new vehicles on the outside exhibition area of the car dealership on Am Riederbruch street during the night from Wednesday to Thursday.

Parts of the glass facade of the car dealership were also destroyed.

The damage is around 300,000 euros.

An anonymous letter claiming responsibility for the crime can now be found on the internet platform Indymedia, which is primarily used by radical left-wing and autonomous groups.

It states that the attack on the car dealership was carried out in solidarity with the occupations threatened by eviction in the Fechenheim forest and in the North Rhine-Westphalian village of Lützerath.

"The heaviest possible tools were used so that the body warps and more damage occurs".

Threats of violence and sabotage

"SUVs, sports cars, etc. are a luxury that we as humanity can no longer afford," says the anonymous letter of confession.

With the criminal offense one wants to set an example against the "unnecessary capitalist logic of individual luxury cars and endless highways".

The letter of confession also threatens further violent actions and sabotage: "We know from the fighting in the Dannenröder Forest or Hambach Forest what these pigs are capable of.

Let them show what we think of them.”

A spokesman for the Frankfurt police confirmed that the investigators were aware of the letter of confession.

It should now be checked whether it is authentic.

No graffiti or slogans suggesting a connection to climate protests were found at the site.

The police are now looking for witnesses who heard something about the nightly attack on the car dealership.
