An American kills 7 members of his family and then commits suicide

A 42-year-old man in the western United States killed his five children, wife and mother-in-law with a firearm and then committed suicide, two weeks after his wife filed for divorce, according to local authorities.

Investigations showed that "the suspect committed suicide after killing seven other people in the house," according to a statement from the municipality of Enoch City, Utah, where the tragedy occurred.

Police found the eight bodies on Wednesday afternoon, all bearing signs of "gunshot wounds," according to the statement.

Five of the bodies belonged to his sons, who ranged between the ages of 4 and 17.

Suspect Michael Height also killed his wife of 40 and mother-in-law of 78 before shooting himself.

And the White House reported Thursday that President Joe Biden and his wife, Jill, are grieving “with the people of Enoch City.”
