Russia is testing its latest missile ships

The press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense announced the start of a new phase of testing on one of the latest military ships developed for the army.

"The Admiral Golovko frigate has started the second stage of sea tests in the waters of the Baltic Sea. During this stage, the ship's crew and experts will check the working mechanism of the ship's artillery and air defense systems, and will make sure that the wireless and communication systems are working as well," said a statement issued by the ministry's press service. ".

The statement indicated that the aforementioned ship had conducted the first stage of naval tests at the beginning of this month, during which experts examined its ability to maneuver in the water, and verified the operation of the engines and power systems that were equipped with it.

Russia began developing the "Admiral Golovko" ship in 2012, to be the third ship it developed under the government project 22350, and launched it for the first time in 2020.

This ship is 135 meters long, 16 meters wide, and its water displacement is equivalent to 5,400 tons. It can sail at a speed of 29 nautical knots, travel distances of up to 4,500 nautical miles per mission, and carry a crew of up to 190 people.

Its armament system includes Russian long-range "Caliber" cruise missiles, 130 mm A-192 cannons, "Redot" air defense missile system, electronic anti-submarine systems, and missile systems against land and sea targets. It has also been equipped with platforms to carry Russian Ka-27PL helicopters. .
