China News Agency, Washington, January 4th. Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang wrote in the Washington Post on the 4th that he firmly believes that the door of Sino-US relations has been opened and will not be closed.

A healthy and stable Sino-US relationship has a bearing on the future and destiny of the two peoples and our planet.

The signed article titled "A Stable Sino-U.S. Relationship Matters to the Future and Destiny of Our Planet" pointed out that Sino-U.S. relations should not be a zero-sum game in which you win and you win, and you rise and fall. The United States develops independently and prospers together.

The respective success of China and the United States is an opportunity rather than a challenge to each other.

We cannot allow prejudice and misperception to lead to confrontation and conflict between the great people of our two countries.

Under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, the two sides should find a correct way of getting along that is conducive to maintaining world peace and prosperity.

The article went on to write that this is not a smooth journey, and requires the joint and unremitting efforts of all walks of life in China and the United States, but history will prove that our efforts and efforts today are necessary and worthwhile.

In the article, Qin Gang reviewed his experience of visiting 22 states in the United States and interacting with all walks of life in the United States during his tenure as ambassador to the United States.

He said, "In my new position, promoting the development of Sino-US relations will still be one of my important missions."

Qin Gang also revealed that during his stay in the US, he communicated candidly with US federal government officials, maintained smooth working relationships, properly handled thorny issues including the Taiwan issue, and promoted progress in exchanges and cooperation in important areas.

He met with more than 80 members of the U.S. Congress, listened to each other, and expressed their respective positions and concerns, even if the other party was a well-known "hawk" on China.

At the end of the article, he quoted the American poet Eliot's poem "arriving at the end means a new departure", saying, "I believe that Sino-US relations will eventually return to the right track and continue to move forward." (End)
