The White House announced yesterday, Wednesday, that the United States is looking for ways to target the production of Iranian drones by imposing sanctions and export controls, and is communicating with private companies that use parts of their products in the manufacture of these drones.

"Washington is assessing additional steps we can take to undermine Iran's access to technology used in drones," said Adrienne Watson, a spokeswoman for the US National Security Council.

US President Joe Biden's administration imposed sanctions on companies and people it accused of producing or transporting Iranian drones that Russia uses to attack civilian infrastructure in Ukraine.

The United States and its allies accused Iran of supplying Russia with hundreds of drones, whose forces are launching attacks on infrastructure in Ukraine. Tehran acknowledged providing Moscow with drones, but confirmed that this was before Russia launched the war on its western neighbor on February 24.

The Ukrainian army said it shot down dozens of Iranian "Shahid" drones, which were widely used in attacks by Russian forces on Kyiv and other Ukrainian regions on New Year's Day.

And last month, the American network “CNN” (CNN) reported that the Biden administration had launched a wide investigation into Iran’s use of Western-made parts to manufacture drones used by Russia against Ukraine, noting that examining a number of drones that were shot down by Ukrainian forces showed that 82% Its components are made by American companies.

The examination also showed that the components of the Iranian drones were manufactured by 70 companies in 13 countries, and that one of them contained Japanese batteries and an Austrian motor.
