The latest record since the statistics began in 2012.

  Data show that in 2022, Brazil's sales of hybrid vehicles using ethanol, gasoline and diesel will reach 30,439, accounting for 62% of the total annual sales of electric vehicles; sales of plug-in hybrid vehicles will reach 10,348, accounting for the total annual sales of electric vehicles 21% of the sales volume; pure electric vehicle sales reached 8,458 units, accounting for 17% of the total sales of electric vehicles for the year.

  The data also shows that in December 2022, the sales volume of light electric vehicles in Brazil reached 5,587 units, the second best result in the history of a single month, second only to the 6,391 units in September 2022.

  Adalberto Maluf, president of the Brazilian Electric Vehicle Association, said that the sales of electric vehicles in Brazil in 2022 will hit the latest record in history, indicating that the country's low-emission vehicle market has great potential and promising prospects.

This is the fifth consecutive year that the sales of electric vehicles in Brazil have achieved steady growth. At present, the number of electric vehicles in circulation in Brazil has reached 126,504.

  At present, only Japan's Toyota Motor Corporation produces electric vehicles in the interior of Sao Paulo state in Brazil, Maluf said.

However, in June 2022, Chery Automobile and Great Wall Motors from China have announced that they will produce electric vehicles in Brazil in 2023.

In addition, other well-known automakers have also completed feasibility studies for the production of electric vehicles in Brazil from 2024.

This shows that the development of Brazil's electric vehicle industry is constantly gathering funds and strength.
