The Democratic Party's Political Innovation Committee will be launched tomorrow (6th) to discuss party innovation under the Lee Jae-myeong system.

In about five months after the election of Lee Jae-myeong as the party leader in August of last year, Supreme Council member Jang Gyeong-tae took over as chairman, party deputy secretary-general Lee Hae-shik was appointed as the head of the party innovation division, and Moon Jin-seok, chairman of the party's strategic planning committee, was appointed as the head of the political reform division.

In addition, a total of six lawmakers, including Jeon Jae-soo, Kim Gyeong-hyup, and Choi Hye-young, were on the list.

Of the total 16 members, 5 are young people, and each regional chairperson from Gangwon, Daegu, and Busan also participates.

In a phone call with SBS, a member of the innovation committee said, "I started the innovation committee with a sense of crisis that politics should not go like this." said.

As the first agenda item, it was reported that it would deal with the issue of reorganizing constituencies three months ahead of the statutory deadline for constituency demarcation for next year's general election.

Through prior discussion, the Innovation Committee established three major principles: strengthening proportionality, guaranteeing social diversity, and breaking the regional structure.

A plan to strengthen public participation in the party's decision-making process, such as the election of the party's representative and supreme council members, is also expected to be on the agenda for discussion.

An official from the Innovation Committee explained, "Unlike the ruling party, which holds a convention with 100% of the party member vote, the intention is to collect a wide range of opinions and be reborn as a 'national party'."

When asked if CEO Lee Jae-myeong's judicial risk is also included in the agenda, an innovation committee member said, "Please understand that it will take on the role of evaluating and presenting the direction the party should move in the mid- to long-term rather than pending issues such as judicial risks."

The inauguration ceremony of the Innovation Committee will be held at 11 am tomorrow, at the Democratic Party's main meeting room in the National Assembly.
