“The President of Romania spoke a lot about the recent adoption by Ukraine of a law on national minorities, which caused concern and discontent among the Romanian authorities and representatives of the Romanian community in Ukraine,” the message on the website of the Romanian President says.

It is specified that Zelensky expressed readiness to find solutions in which the Romanian community in Ukraine will enjoy the same rights as the Ukrainian community in Romania.

On June 17, the European Commission recommended that Ukraine be granted the status of a candidate for EU membership, but subject to a number of important reforms.

This issue will be considered during the summit of the heads of states of the association, which will be held next week.

Later, the European Commission published a list of conditions, the failure of which on the part of Ukraine may become a reason for revoking Kyiv's status as a candidate for EU membership.

Among other things, the Kyiv authorities were ordered to carry out judicial reform, introduce anti-corruption laws, adopt documents that prevent the oligarchy, money laundering and change the legislation on national minorities.
