44 soldiers were killed in the Israeli occupation army during 2022, including 3 who were killed in confrontations with Palestinian resistance fighters in the West Bank, and 14 who died by suicide, according to data reported by the Army's Manpower Division.

Data published by the Personnel Division (Manpower Department) of the occupation army showed an increase in the number of occupation deaths during the past year compared to 2021, as the official Israeli data indicates that 31 Israeli soldiers were killed during 2021, and 28 in 2020.

The occupation army stated that "3 people were killed in confrontations in the West Bank and 17 in other accidents, including 3 in operational accidents (they were accidentally killed by their colleagues), 2 in air accidents, one soldier in a training accident, 6 in civilian road accidents, and one soldier." In a military road accident, and 4 in other accidents.

Suicides among the occupation army also increased compared to 2021.

As 14 soldiers committed suicide in 2022, an increase of 3 cases from the previous year, and 10 others died as a result of various diseases.

The occupation army said it had taken several measures to reduce suicides among its soldiers, including increasing the number of psychiatrists and limiting soldiers' access to weapons.

The Hebrew newspaper, Yedioth Ahronoth, indicated that the number of Israeli soldiers killed during 2022 is the highest since 2017, noting that in that year the Israeli army recorded the killing of 55 soldiers, and 43 soldiers were killed in 2018, and 27 in 2019.
