According to an Ifop poll for the JDD, the rise in the price of bread is not going well in public opinion since only 31% of French people questioned say they are ready to pay 1.50 euros for their baguette.

A sum already displayed in some bakeries, faced with soaring energy and raw material prices.

1.50 euro for a baguette.

A reality that could prevail in the coming weeks, according to estimates from the National Confederation of French Bakery (CNBPF).

Suffocated by soaring energy prices combined with the rising cost of raw materials, many bakers may have to cross this symbolic bar.

Nevertheless, according to an Ifop poll for

the JDD

, the French are not yet willing to accept such an increase.

69% of them say they are not ready to pay such a sum for their daily baguette, the price of which is, on average, 95 cents.

Numbers that may vary

Logically, the wealthy categories want to be less refractory.

51% of French people belonging to this fringe would agree to pay for their bread at the price of 1.50 euro against only 23% of the modest categories.

Differences also appear according to the geographical era considered.

Thus, the rural population grumbles more in the face of this increase since only 26% of respondents are willing to accept this increase.

A figure that climbs to 39% in the Paris area.

Finally, it is worth pointing out the divergences observed according to the political preferences of the respondents.

Supporters of the presidential majority are among the least contentious (41% are inclined to pay 1.50 euros for their baguette) while those of rebellious France (27%) and the National Rally (20%) are few in number to resign to it.
