Āboliņš stated that support for the Russian-language media in Latvia is now inexpedient and it is necessary to “strengthen the content in the Latvian language”.
The National Electronic Media Council of Latvia decided to revoke the broadcasting license of Dozhd on 6 December.
As reported, this is due to "a threat to national security and public order."
Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov commented on the situation with the annulment of the license of the Dozhd TV channel to broadcast in Latvia.
