The weather on Wednesday will be generally gloomy, with rain and wind expected in the north of the country, but sunnier in the south, according to Météo France forecasts.

During the day, the rains that arrived the day before via the English Channel will spread to a larger northern half of the country.

Slightly rainy and windy weather will cover the regions ranging from Brittany, Pays de la Loire and Poitou to the Belgian border and the Grand Est.

Lots of wind on the Channel coasts

The southwest wind will approach 50 km / h inland and 60 to 70 km / h in gusts on the Channel coasts and the north of Hauts-de-France where it can temporarily reach 80 km / h.

An improvement with some clearings will however be expected at the end of the day from the Normandy coast to Flanders.

The sky will also be gray from the north of Aquitaine to the west of the Massif Central and in Burgundy Franche-Comté, with dense fog in the morning, especially in the South-West and in the Val de Saône.

A few drops or drizzles will also be possible in the afternoon.

Mists in the Toulouse region

On the outskirts of the Pyrenees, like the Alps around the Mediterranean, the conditions will be sunnier.

Locally in the Toulouse region and from the Rhône valley to Provence, fog could however resist until midday.

Low clouds will also hang over the Côte d'Azur and the Corsican shores.

The minimum temperatures will be very mild in the North-West, between 7 and 11 degrees, but cooler everywhere else with 2 to 6 degrees and small frosts around the massifs.

The maximum will reach 10 to 15 degrees in general, 16 to 18 degrees in southern Aquitaine and on the shores of the Mediterranean.
