- As we had already planned a competition, we saw an opportunity to run the Scandinavian Cup in connection with it, says chairman of Falun/Borlänge SK Johan Eriksson.

The club had previously planned for the Copper Skiing competition at Lugnet in Falun on January 13-15, which is also a competition with FIS points but with a lower status.

The new arrangement means that the competitions are merged.

- It feels great and fun, we will most likely see Linn Svahn, Emma Ribom, Ebba Andersson and Jonna Sundling in the field, they were supposed to be driving in Rovaniemi.

Positive but challenging

Although he sees it as positive to take over the arrangement, there are certain challenges.

- It's more about there being accommodation and paddocks for the contestants.

The elevated status may also bring more audiences to the races, which are free to watch.

- More audiences means we need more officials and perhaps more barriers, says Johan Eriksson, who nevertheless welcomes the task.

- I am looking forward to it very much, he says.
