At New Year's, it became illegal not to have an ID tag on your cat and a requirement to register as a cat owner with the Swedish Board of Agriculture, and for that you need a chip with an ID tag.

- The ear tattoo was a little unclear, so I felt that we might as well chip her, says Selma's mother Mia Hillerström, Jönköping.

- I think it's great, if she gets lost, we can get her home more easily.
