While Covid-19 contaminations are soaring in China, Beijing continues to innovate, particularly in the field of new energies such as hydrogen.

China has just inaugurated its first train equipped with this technology dedicated to passenger transport.

The fastest hydrogen train in the world has been inaugurated in China and has just rolled off the assembly lines.

All in blue, with a futuristic cockpit and a very elongated nose, this new train has reached the record speed of 160 km/h, has a great autonomy of 600 kilometers, and can accommodate 1,500 passengers.

Hydrogen, an 87 billion euro market in China

Hydrogen engines could be the future, at least in China where the country announces carbon neutrality by 2060, which requires huge investments.

Aliocha is an economist and specialist in renewable energies.

She explains that China's progress in this area is linked to significant government subsidies.

"For both hydrogen and carbon capture technologies, in recent years the government has used a combination of subsidies, tax cuts and industrial policies to support the renewable energy industry."

China plans to go further and introduce, in addition to trains, 50,000 hydrogen cars within two years.

A market estimated in China at 87 billion euros in 2040.
