Three people "of Romanian origin" were injured on Monday during a fire in a squatted building in Grenoble.

Among the victims, a 12-year-old child suffered from “severe burns”, indicates the prosecution while the firefighters specify that he is in “absolute state of emergency”.

The disaster started around 1:40 p.m. following the accidental explosion of a gas cylinder located in the kitchen of one of the apartments.

The Grenoble public prosecutor's office has opened an investigation to find the causes and circumstances of the accident.

Risk of collapse

“The other two victims suffer from more superficial injuries,” he adds.

A 25-year-old pregnant woman was identified among the three injured people taken to hospital.

In total, firefighters evacuated 24 people.

They are still there.

If the fire is now under control, there remains a risk of the building's floors and roof collapsing.
