Many places in the United States have been hit by winter storms recently, and the city of Buffalo in western New York State has been hit particularly hard.

At present, more than 30 people have been killed in the current round of winter storm in Buffalo.

Local residents said that one of the reasons for the large number of casualties was the local government's ineffective response to the disaster.

Residents of Buffalo said that if the government could issue an order prohibiting driving in time before the winter storm hit, so many people would not lose their lives in the snowstorm.

Efrain, a resident of Buffalo: I don't think we realized the seriousness of the matter (when the winter storm came).

And the funny thing is, it's been 4 days since the disaster happened before the police and fire department finally came to see if we were ok.

But they came too late, and many lives have already been lost.

I think the government really should have informed the public in advance and given us more information about the severity of the winter storms.

Buffalo faces another flood threat after snowstorm

According to the ABC report, the US National Weather Service stated that as the winter storm ends and the temperature gradually picks up, Buffalo may experience floods caused by melting snow again.

On December 31, 2022 local time, the temperature in Buffalo had risen to 6 degrees Celsius above zero, and due to the melting of a large amount of accumulated snow, the water level of local streams skyrocketed.

Currently, New York State has prepared more than 770,000 sandbags to help Buffalo and its surrounding areas deal with the threat of flooding.
