  Dong Jingya from East China Jiaotong University signed up for the International Chinese Volunteer Project of the Language Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Education in March 2022, and arrived at Ubon Ratchathani Middle School in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand in August 2022 to undertake the Chinese teaching work for the school's senior one to senior three students .

Recently, she ushered in her own long vacation, and her Chinese teaching work has also entered a new stage.

  It is understood that since the launch of the International Chinese Education Volunteer Project in 2004, more than 60,000 volunteers have gone to teach in 151 countries and regions, contributing to the promotion of friendship and exchanges between people from all over the world.

  "I have traveled to Thailand many times before, and I also like to try new things. I want to try teaching in different countries to better understand multiculturalism." When talking about the original intention of going to Thailand to become a Chinese teacher, Dong Jingya Considered it a "try multicultural" novelty experience.

  In order to better carry out teaching work, Dong Jingya learned some Thai, and used Chinese, English and Thai interspersed in class.

In her opinion, culture is behind language, and learning different languages ​​can also allow oneself to think about issues from a different cultural background, and learn to understand and tolerate different cultures, which is also a very valuable learning experience for herself.

  "Before we came, the local students already had some understanding of China. They not only loved ancient Chinese songs, but also praised traditional costumes such as Hanfu." Dong Jingya said that many Thai students expressed their desire to go to Beijing. Looking at the Great Wall, there are also students who choose to study in colleges and universities in Chongqing because they want to go to Chongqing to eat hot pot, and some students are very curious about the taste of "Kung Pao Chicken".

  Among the luggage she brought to Thailand, Dong Jingya also brought a few cheongsams. When she was wearing cheongsams, local students all took photos together.

In addition, local schools regularly organize traditional Chinese cultural activities such as calligraphy and paper-cutting.

Facing the students' various curiosity about China, Dong Jingya will also answer them one by one.

  "Students in Thailand are lively and active, with strong hands-on ability and expressive ability. They are very good at dancing, and they dance very well. At the same time, they never hesitate to express their love for their teachers." Speaking of her students, Dong Jingya always In her opinion, this volunteer work not only understands the customs and living habits of different countries, but also makes her more confident, happy and outgoing when getting along with students.

  At present, there are two Thai teachers in Dong Jingya's Chinese group who have also studied in China, and they will also introduce Chinese customs to local students. At present, some students are applying to study in China.

  When talking about the planning of the remaining voluntary work, Dong Jingya said that she will do her best to do a good job in Chinese teaching, and will introduce more excellent traditional Chinese culture to local students, so that local students can understand a comprehensive, authentic and three-dimensional cultural China .
