Today, Sunday, the Afghan Ministry of Interior announced that an explosion occurred in front of the military airport in the capital, Kabul, which resulted in many deaths and injuries.

Al-Jazeera correspondent from Afghanistan quoted a security source as saying that 10 people were killed and 8 wounded in an explosion at the main entrance to the military airport in the center of the Afghan capital.

The reporter added that a person blew himself up on a motorcycle, indicating that the airport is located in a sensitive area, about 400 meters away from the Afghan Ministry of Interior.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.

In October 2022, another bombing took place targeting a mosque inside the Afghan Ministry of Interior, killing 8 people and injuring 20 others.

At the end of last November, 23 people were killed and 30 injured in an explosion inside a school in the northern state of Samangan.

An attack targeting a hotel frequented by Chinese businessmen in the Afghan capital killed 3 people and injured 18 others last December.

Since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan, the country has witnessed a series of bombings targeting mosques, some of which are Shiites, in which hundreds were killed, and the Islamic State claimed many of these bombings.
